This can lead to discriminatory outcomes, such as unfairly denying individuals access to opportunities or resources. From a privacy perspective, AI bias can result in the unequal treatment of individuals based on sensitive attributes like race, gender, or sexual orientation. For example, biased AI algorithms used in hiring processes may inadvertently discriminate against certain groups, leading to privacy violations and potential legal implications. Furthermore, biased AI systems can also lead to inaccurate profiling and targeting, which can compromise individuals’ privacy by exposing them to unfair surveillance or exploitation.

To understand how AI bias impacts privacy and data protection, imagine a library that only collects and indexes books written by a specific group of authors, ignoring the contributions of others.
